Revd. Jim Taylor

When exploring a church, it’s natural to want to find out a little bit about ‘the vicar’, so…

…if you’re interested in the family stuff:

I am married to Gill, who I’ve known since we were at school together. She works in a Primary School, but you might see her up at the front of church, as she’s also a Licensed Lay Minister. We have two amazing, talented daughters who have followed us around the country from church to church with good humour and great resilience. We’re incredibly proud of them.

Holy Trinity is a great church for families. We know kids find it hard to sit still, so we keep things lively and active, particularly at our 11am service. We have excellent an children’s church run by passionate and committed volunteers and a Youth group for our teens.

Holy Trinity values being a church for young families and also in being the worshipping ‘whole family of God’ – so you’ll always find a very warm welcome here: whether or not you have a family yourself.

…if you’re interested in my ‘past life’:

I haven’t always been a vicar. I was brought up in a Christian home and belonged to The Salvation Army, but over the years I have also worshipped at Baptist and Free churches. Prior to the call to ordained ministry, I worked for many years in The Prison Service working in a Maximum Secure Prison in Buckinghamshire. I trained for ministry between 2009-2011 at Trinity College, Bristol whilst completing a degree with Bristol University. Afterwards, I served my Curacy (“Trainee Vicar-ship”) at St. Mary’s, Princes Risborough, whilst also completing post-graduate qualifications with Oxford (Brookes) University.

Finally, …if you’d like to know what I get up to in my spare time:

I’m crazy about brass bands and football, so I feel completely at home in Yorkshire, despite being born and raised over the border in Lancashire. I’m an armchair enthusiast for all TV sport but I can play an impressive game of pool and throw a decent dart.

Most importantly, I base my life on trying to follow the teachings of Jesus, and to communicate his love for everyone. And so, I’m passionate about sharing Jesus, not dry religion. Come along and join us at Holy Trinity – where we’d all love to meet you, and ‘follow Jesus, together’.
