Childcare Assistant – Job Description

Start Date: Monday 4th November 2024

Employer: PCC of Idle Parish, Holy Trinity Church, Idle, Bradford

Location: Idle C of E Primary School, Idle, Bradford

Hourly Rate: Meets National Minimum Wage

Contract: 7.5 hours per week – Term time only

Ark Out of School Club is a childcare club for Idle CE Primary School children run by Holy Trinity Church, Idle within the school. We are seeking to recruit a Childcare Assistant to work alongside the existing team for the morning session.

The working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am until 9am. The club is open between 7.30 – 8.50am Monday to Friday – Term time only as set by Idle CE Primary School.

The role involves supervising the children, ensuring their safety at all times, managing risk, engaging with them in aspects of play and conversation, setting up activities for children to optionally take part in, ensure the children are taken to their classrooms in a timely and safe manner, meet and greet parents and provide them with feedback on their child’s time at the club if appropriate, as well as assisting with breakfast service and clearing up.

This role requires someone who must be enthusiastic, honest, reliable, hardworking and most importantly willing to have fun and enjoy working with children.  

A register of children is used daily and you should ensure you are aware of each child’s needs using the confidential records, and follow agreed plans for any additional support required.

The ideal candidate would require the following qualifications and experience:

(E= Essential, P= Preferred, D= Desired);

An OFSTED approved Level 2 qualification in Childcare – P
Basic/ Level 1 Safeguarding Training (Training can be provided) – E
Paediatric First Aid qualification (Training can be provided) – D
Experience of working with children in a day-care/ club/ coaching/ educational setting – D
Food Hygiene Certified – D

You will be fully supported in your role by Holy Trinity Church and the Diocese of Leeds.
